Palm Zire and Debian Woody

Content:

Debian Woody is a wonderfull distrib but it becomes a bit old to communicate with new devices.

When I bought my cheap Palm Zire, I did not work with Debian.

Luckily, I found infos on Yannick Copin page: http://snovae.in2p3.fr/ycopin/soft/zire.html on what to do: in fact, most of the job consists in recompiling a slightly modified visor kernel module.

The precompiled visor kernel module for Woody is here

My kernel is 2.4.18-bf2.4 (the standard one, suggested from the installation screen).
So all you have to do is backup your old visor.o module from /lib/modules/2.4.18-bf2.4/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/, replace with the new one.

I had to compile a recent version of pilot-link (0.11.8) and of jpilot (0.99.6) to end the work.

Note: I never managed to sync with kpilot.

Enjoy !
